Over the years, international connexions and heavyweight releases have become Dubquake’s trademark. Nina Girassóis and Paulera join the label’s roaster with their pop infused roots reggae hit “Heavyweight Sound’. Two years after the release of the “Sao Paulo Raw Vibes” mixtape, O.B.F is” proud to shine the light on these two talented artists at the centre of the bustling Brazilian dub music scene.“Heavyweight Sound’ was premiered by Rico O.B.F during the popular “Lockdown Sessions” last spring. Produced by Paulera in 2012 and mixed by Rico at the Dubquake Studio in 2020, Nina Girassóis complements the track with her sweet voice, singing and raising awareness about the ongoing Brazilian social-economic crisis. The lyrics were written nearly ten years ago but resonate worldwide more than ever in today’s climate.The 100% Brazilian catchy melodies and deep bassline, reminiscent of the duo’s reggae roots influences, became one of our most requested dubplates over the past year. As the story has it, Biga*Ranx heard the track and loved it so much that he insisted on designing the artwork...
