BARRO 11 review

Barro Music Label continues to focus on the hardest and darkest techno, and so the next logical step was to release an NX1 EP. It would take a lot of space to describe everything NX1 stands for, but let's just say it's the project by Barcelona-based Surit and Samot, with which they've been blowing up amps and making us dance until we're exhausted for several years. With this, AKA has released on top labels such as Bite, Semantica, Planete Rouge, and Earwiggle, as well as on Nexe Records, their own label. Now we can hear their latest tracks on Barro, on an album that brings together four tracks and a remix by Nöle. It won't be the last time we see them together, as they've joined forces to create a new label called Kätte, which has already released its first release.

On BR1, they bring us a powerful post-apocalyptic industrial techno track dominated by a thunderous bass drum, highlighting the excellent sound design. The next two tracks are more dance-focused and showcase NX1's harder, darker side. BR2 is a hypnotic composition with sharp, industrial sounds, a kick drum with a tremendous punch, and a bass that sticks in your skin. And although it may seem impossible, the EP continues with an even harder track: BR3. NX1 achieves incredible intensity in this composition, marked by saturated synthesizers, a hard and aggressive sound, and a sample that commands you to obey. For the next track, they lower the BPM and focus on creating an industrial atmosphere, inspiring images of deserted roads and abandoned cities. Nöle, meanwhile, takes BR2 and gives prominence to the vocal samples while playing with the rhythm, creating another irresistible dance floor-buster.
